Oxandrolone is also known as oxandrin. It is a kind of synthetic anabolic steroid, a derivation from dihydrotestosterone. In 1964 this drug was introduced in the USA market in the name as Anavar and Oxandrolone and it received immense popularity then. Then due to certain reasons the manufacturing of this drug was phrased out and now with the generic name of Oxan SB it is available as the only original available anabolic steroid in European market. It is a weak steroid with the slight characteristics of androgenic components. By taking Oxandrolone withy reasonable dosages, this steroid rarely causes any side effects. It is frequently used for children to stimulate their growth and for women to stop osteoporosis as it is considered as one of those few steroids that do not cause the early stunting of development in children and it does not impulsively close the epiphysical growth. It rarely causes very slight virilization symptoms. For this reason Oxandrolone is used as a popular remedy for the female athletes with the daily dose of 10 to 15 mg.
The recommended dosage is 15-50 mg daily; ideally according to the rule 1 tablet per 5 kg body weight.
Since oxandrolone is one of the very fine steroids, there are very few negative effects. It is confirmed to negatively affect the digestive tract and can cause diarrhea. It is slightly toxic to the liver. Oxandrolone may cause very slight virilization symptoms (development of secondary male sexual signs in women).
